Burns Named to Leadership Post in Airline Antitrust Litigation
Warren Burns is one of three attorneys appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in the national antitrust litigation against domestic airlines. The multi-district litigation, consolidated in federal court in the District of Columbia, alleges U.S. air carriers have restricted capacity by limiting routes and the number of available seats, resulting in higher costs for travelers. Dozens of lawyers across the U.S. filed class action lawsuits after the U.S. Department of Justice announced last summer that it had served the airlines with a civil investigative demand seeking additional information about potential anti-competitive practices. Yesterday, U.S. District Judge Collen Kollar-Kotelly appointed Burns, California class action lawyer Elizabeth Cabraser and New York trial lawyer Robert Kaplan to serve as the plaintiffs’ executive committee.
