Three partners of the firm have been named to the list of D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas for 2020.

Firm partner Warren Burns is recognized for his work in class action litigation. He recently gained class certification for consumers victimized by the unlawful profits generated by the manufacturers of EpiPens. In addition, he is pursuing class action claims against Germany’s four major automobile manufacturers for price-fixing, and against the nation’s four major airlines for conspiring to restrict capacity to increase profits.

Named in the commercial litigation category, firm partner Daniel Charest ended 2019 with an important, precedent-setting ruling as lead trial counsel in a federal claims case in which the court found a group of Houston landowners could be compensated for government-induced flooding after Hurricane Harvey. Over the course of the year, he also led trial teams in two oil and gas arbitrations–one in London and one in Dallas–and both to victory.

Darren Nicholson, who joined the firm as partner in early 2019, was honored in the commercial litigation category. Currently Mr. Nicholson is representing a coalition of more than 25 Texas hospitals seeking to gain compensation for serving on the front lines in addressing the opioid crisis. He is also representing plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial litigation and intellectual property disputes in courts across the nation.

The honorees on the annual Best Lawyers in Dallas list are nominated by their peers based on discerning which attorneys in the region are producing the most outstanding work. Once the nominations are tabulated, an anonymous panel of lawyers and the D Magazine editorial staff choose those who best represent the top attorneys in Dallas.
