Firm’s Gaming App Litigation Featured on Today Show
Two proposed class action lawsuits filed against online gaming marketers Avia Games and Papaya Games for deceptive trade practices have drawn national news media attention, with Burns Charest attorney Matt Tripolitsiotis recently interviewed on a Today Show segment about the litigation.
“The companies tell consumers they’re playing games of skill against other humans, but in reality they’re using bots and keeping the winnings for themselves,” he says.
The lawsuits, filed in federal courts against Avia in California and against Papaya in New York, allege the companies’ apps mislead consumers into paying for and playing games of chance that amount to an unapproved gambling enterprise.
