
Ellen Short joined Burns Charest in 2024 after clerking for the Honorable Susie Morgan at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and the Honorable Dana M. Douglas at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Before joining the firm, Ellen served as a Legal Fellow at the ACLU of Louisiana, where she represented plaintiffs in civil rights cases at the trial and appellate level. At Burns Charest, Ellen represents plaintiffs in complex class actions and multi-district litigation in a variety of practice areas, including antitrust, civil RICO, and pharmaceutical products liability.
Ellen earned her B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of Washington in Seattle in 2018 and graduated magna cum laude from Tulane University Law School in 2022. During law school, she served as a Notes and Comments Editor for the Tulane Law Review, a Legal Writing Fellow, Vice President of OUTLaw, and an extern for the ACLU of Louisiana.
In her free time, Ellen enjoys reading and spending time with her dachshund, Leroy.
